We’re a boutique music company born over late night cups of chai and studio conversations. After years of music industry experience, our founders were frustrated.  Of signing to a major label and having them sleep on the releases -putting years of hard work to waste. Or signing shitty deals and having tracks blow up - and not getting paid royalties. Or releasing independently and duking it out in the trenches of spotify for a few thousand plays and just a few dollars in revenue.

We were sick of spending hours and hours creating, only to have releases fall flat - or signing their rights and ownership away to a label. They were sick of sitting on the sidelines.

So we decided to figure it out.

SXL was started with the guiding belief that there MUST be a better way to release music. There MUST be a better way for artists to build sustainable careers. There MUST be a way for artists to own EVERYTHING, to have full creative freedom, to build lucrative brand partnerships, and to have the support of a label - without the constraints. There must be a way to avoid the snakes and find the ladders!

We wanted to build the music company that we trusted our own music with - and we do. Snakes x Ladders works with friends and community members to tell authentic stories that connect us all.
